my question is, what format does it record in? because i would need it to be able to edit on sony vegas on my computer and so it better be a compatible format

  2. thesponge11 says:

and is there a white balance?

  3. BryanComedy says:

It’s been out almost a year! Hurry up canon and make the hg30. I am getting a new camera next month! :)

  4. meecrob99 says:

No, better off getting a HG20 as the CMOS sensor preforms much better in low light. Also has a bigger HDD

  5. KinglyTurnip says:

The Canon VIXIA HG-20 Records in AVCHD. Some versions of Sony Vegas will support it, but it has fairly steep system requirements.

  6. TheFXGuy says:

I dunno what format, but u could always convert the file.

  7. TheFXGuy says:

i would love to have this camera

I still have a cassette camera for the moment, ill be getting this one soon. Just a question, the quality on my current camera is exellent when I watch it from the camera but for some reason the quality gets very bad once I put it on my computer. Is this because of the fact its a cassette camera ?

  9. makeamovie94 says:

I have the same problem… Powerful colors when I play it on the camera and a bad qualitiy when I play it on the PC.

  10. carlitozik says:

Disappointed only because of AVCHD! Why not HDV? ((

  11. hitm4n04 says:

dude my teacher told me that tapes>hd,cuz tapes produce better quality overall

its basically same just a tape, when u trasfer to pc its digital anyway

  12. GetOutSideMoreOften says:

    is this shockproof in anyway?

  13. Zecifer says:

If you use Quicktime to watch videos, it automatically downgrades to Low Resolution, since Apple thinks we have jurassic computers.

I guess it’s just the player.

  14. CharlieBriggsUK says:

Got a question, what kind of spec. PC do you need to be able to edit HD footage?

    My PC has a single-core Athlon 64 processor @ 1.8 ghz, 2 GB RAM, Geforce 6600 card.
Not sure if it will be able to handle it…

    Thanks!

  15. RoboHamster26 says:

    wat is the lens size

  16. Zecifer says:

    That’s enough for HDV probably.
For AVCHD, which this camera uses, forget it. A quad-core cpu and an HD-accelerated gpu and 4-6GB of memory is the ideal for fluid editing and playback.

    Thanks for the help, understood

  24. CharlieBriggsUK says:
