Areas of interest and which is better, the Creative Vado HD or the Flip Ultra HD. Design - Vado - Smaller but does not stand up without a tripod. LCD Display - Ultra - Hands down the LCD us much brighter and more clear. Batteries - Ultra - Has rechargeable AA pack and will use standard AA batteries. Controls - Ultra - Almost a tie but Vado power button is hard to push. Lens - Vado - For it's wide angle lens Low Light - Vado - Both kinda suck but the Vado has less noise. However, the Ultra has more gain. Indoors - Tie - Both are very similar indoors with decent light. Outdoors - Ultra - The Flip has better color and sharper video. Colors - Ultra - More realistic colors. To me, the Vado looks over processed. Saturation - Ultra - Vado is over saturated. Sound - Ultra - Hands down winner here. The Vado sound is low and muffled. Ultra is crisp and clear. Mac Support - Ultra - I'm a Mac user, the Ultra is made with Mac user in mind. iMovie imports the .MP4 files directly. The Vado .AVI files require conversion before they can be imported into iMovie. At the end of the day, for me the Flip Ultra HD is a better buy. It's a bit more expensive, a bit larger, and does not have the wide angle lens. However, it's better video quality, far superior sound quality and the fact that it is Mac friendly totally make up for that.

    @XxHeidi55xX I think the camera was about $179 and it was edited on iMovie on a Mac. I am no longer using the Mac though.

    @letmeplaymystrat what editing system do you use on pc do you know of any free editing systems

  3. letmeplaymystrat says:

    @XxHeidi55xX I use Pinnacle Studio. The only free editing software that I know of is Windows Movie Maker that comes with Windows. It’s actually a pretty decent program for simple editing.

    Hi :)

    From the beginning I see that you use iMovie and I have a question…

    I presume that like previous flip models, the mino shoots in .avi

    Did you have to convert that video to get it to work on iMovie? If so, what did you use?

    PLEASE ANSWER :

    help me! when i upload using my ultra HD, it doesnt upload in hd. i can only select up to 360p on my vids with it :/

  13. letmeplaymystrat says:

    @perkinator15 That is normal, when you first upload the video, you will only see a low rez version. It takes youtube a long time to render the HD version. It can take a couple of hours for the HD version to show up. As long as you upload in HD it should eventually allow you to view the HD version.

  14. letmeplaymystrat says:

    @FurtureSims Not sure about the mino, but the I think the Ultra HD saved videos as MP4 which worked very well with iMovie with no conversion. I also shot with a Creative Vado HD and I think that was AVI and required conversion on the Mac, so I just stuck with the Ultra HD. I really can’t deal with having to convert videos in order to edit them. I’d rather just replace the camera and get one that is compatible with my computer/software.

  15. letmeplaymystrat says:

    @naruto5168 Really depends on what your needs are and what you want to use the camera for.

  16. letmeplaymystrat says:

    @xkidrobot Ha! thanks. Don’t do anything special, just a little fertilizer and that’s it. Stuff grows really well down in the south.

  17. FurtureSims says:

    @letmeplaymystrat thank you :)

  18. perkinator15 says:

    @perkinator15 when you create vid to computer create it as a 1080 x 720 or 720 x 480

    I reccomend Sony Vegas to edit your videos. You can make very nice looking color corrections and once you get it down the program is really simple.
    Also if you want to do advanced editing I recomend Adobe After Effects. I have both I just looked up how to get ___________ free on youtube. It’s easy to get free and you will have the full version.
