The Flip sucks. They stopped making them about a year ago. They all have bad Battery problems, take terrible video. There are better camcorders out there.

No no no no no! Please, you may as well through your cash down a drain! Also, the shape of them makes it quite difficult to shoot smooth video, as you cannot hold it very still. If you are looking down the cheap HD route, I can highly recommend that for the most professional looking videos (not just because of the Full HD quality but also because of the low DoF, whitebalance tools, focus rings etc.) you look into buying a DSLR. Personally I use a Nikon D5100, and it is brilliant. Cheaper ones are available, like the Lumix G2 (closer to the price of a Flip), and this too is great. If you buy lenses second hand, it shouldn’t cost you too much to get a good range of focal lenghts spread across a couple of extra lenses. If you want to know more about good equipment to buy, and why not to get home video cameras etc, watch the first 8 mins of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Obmq83YTLtw
