Sony announced this new Handycam with a double lens and double sensor. The double lens and double sensor makes it able to capture real 3D instead of doing fake 3D in post. This is a good start for sony in thier 3D line of Handycams, although I don't think it will be necessary. This is an example test video of the Samsung Vice video camera camcorder feature. In order to compare and contrast the video and audio capture qualities of this 2 megapixel mobile cellular phone with others of the same megapixel camera and price range, the video capture was taken while holding three different cell phones at the exact same time, namely the: Samsung Vice LG Neon TE365 Nokia 2730 All handy's were set to their highest quality settings for video capture. I have also posted the example test videos of the other two mobile phones right here on YouTube, for you to hold your own comparison and review. Overall, the LG Neon gave the best video quality and resolution (320X240) while the Nokia 2730 gave the worst (with a maximum resolution of 176X144). Sound capture, however, seemed best on the Nokia 2730, with the LG Neon sounding low and muffled (should be noted that the microphone was on the opposite side of the phone to which my mouth was facing, then again, all three phones were like this.) The audio capture of the Samsung Vice didn't even play audibly using VLC Media Player on my home computer (but did play when watching the video back on the handheld itself.) For compression and file size sakes, the LG Neon produced a 3gp video file that for 5:32 of recorded video took up 15799kb of space. The Samsung Vice produced a 3g2 video file that for 5:26 of recorded video took up 5429kb of space. Finally, the Nokia 2730 produced a 3gp video file that for 5:28 of recorded ...

A full overview and demo of the Sony Hi8 XR stereo camcorder, model CCD-TR940, circa 1998. This model basically has all of the goodies Sony ever put into an analog camcorder for the consumer market, except a flip-out LCD screen. The XR system records 440 lines of resolution on Hi8 tapes, and 280 lines on standard grade 8mm tapes (as compared to 400 and 240 lines, respectively, for non-"XR" 8mm camcorders). Sony only offered Hi8 XR camcorders for a few years (around 1998 to 2000) before they eliminated all high-end analog camcorders from their lineup, in favor of their Digital8 series.
