I found the solution! Click the link below to see the solution video. youtu.be So the power button is not working. However, I'm not convinced that taking it apart and replacing the power button would solve the problem. Let me back up a few steps. Everything was working fine, scratch that...everything was "functioning" with a little TLC for about 1 year. Everyone knows the flips are cool and the do a good job, but they have some kinks and quirks. I was mounting the Flip Ultra HD on a tripod regularly multiple times a week with no problems. THEN one day I decided to create a make-shift mounting device so that I could mount the camera to my car's dash board. Well I used a 1/4" 20 threaded shaft that was slightly longer then that of a standard tripod 1/4" 20 threaded shaft. As soon as I removed the shaft the very first time my power button was no longer functioning. Very strange. I can get the camera to come on by plugging in the USB to a computer, but it turns off every 2 minutes. And not only that, it now turns off and back on again every 2 minutes repeatedly until I remove the batteries. I have also found that when I take that same slightly longer 1/4" 20 mounting shaft and screw it into the mounting hole at a very specific tightness/ distance the camera resumes functioning as normal! THATS RIGHT with a silly piece of metal wedged into the mounting hole the camera's power button functions again. I guess I'm getting warming but this doesn't seem like a practical solution ...

I was going to cut out the CMOS sensor and mount it to the inside of a pair of glasses! that would be the ultimate HD spy camera! but it is taking a lot more work than i thought to cut the sensor out of the board! but i will get it done! stay tuned!
