Just a quick video to compare two microphones using the Kodak Zi8 pocket video camera's external stereo mic input: a fake counterfeit Hong Kong Sony "ECM-DS70P"-lookalike microphone bought from eBay for .00 including shipping, and a real Made in Japan Sony ECM-DS30P stereo microphone bought from Amazon.com for . The real Sony ECM-DS70P would be the best external mic for this camera. It has both much better stereo separation than the fake Hong Kong Sony version of it, and much better bass response than the tinny little Sony ECM-DS30P. But for .00, the fake Sony mic isn't bad, if you don't mind not having much stereo separation.

okay i have two sony camcorders, one from 1998 and another from 2006, both are made in japan. Last year i was looking a new camcorder so i looked the sony brand because of the reliability. i stumbled upon some models i liked, but the thing is that all had a thing in common: made in china. so are most sony standard def and hi-def made in china now because back then they were made in japan.
