This Flip crashes when I'm recording. I won't review it until Flip sends me a new unit that hopefully doesn't have this problem. The Flip Mino HD Premium improves upon many features of the original Mino HD. Leave a comment if you would like to know anything specific about this camera.
Ok so I just wanted to ask if there is a better pocket camera then the flip ultra hd. Its just the flip ultra hd is a little shaky and the quality isnt the best. Is there a better POCKET camera then this one?
Also preferably under 200 bucks If not thats ok
Part 1 is here: www.youtube.com This is a side-by-side, head-to-head footage comparison between the Flip and the Kodak (the Kodak is in 720p 60 fps mode instead of 1080p because the Flip only does 720p at 60 fps (third generation Flip), and I wanted to compare them with exact modes). The footage has only been cut and compressed, absolutely no color correction was applied to the output of either. Reviewing the footage, in MOST situations the Kodak beat out the Flip in color quality, but there were a few situations here where I was surprised to see the opposite. It really seems to depend on the lighting situation and how differently the cameras handle their internal white balancing. The Zi8 definitely had sharper image clarity and also responded better to changes in light, as well as situations where a direct bright light is visible to the camera, but in very low light, while neither camera performed well int his area, the Zi8 footage appeared more grainy in these situations. Both cameras have a significant amount of motion blur at even the slightest movement or panning of the cameras, and I could not determine which one handled this better (the Kodak does have an image stabilization feature, but it was off during the filming of this footage). I used the sound recorded by the microphone on the Flip for this video, because it's internal mic is much better than the mic on the Zi8 (however, I should have used my lapel mic with the Zi8 for this as I noted in the beginning of ...
Jeff Hastings reviews the Kodak Zi8, a pocket video camera that shoots full blown 1080p widescreen high definition video as well as 720p and WVGA video and 5 megapixel stills. The review accompanies the "Test Drive" column that appears in the December, 2009 issue of School Library Journal and which is also available on SLJ.com. The review also points to a trio of footage samples shot on the Zi8 and posted online.
