A side by side comparison of DSLR and camcorder. Both cameras used the predefined WB setting of tungsten. Both cameras used auto exposure and manual focus. On HF-S100 I used 25p cine mode. D7000 was shot using 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 VR kit lens. HF-S100 was shot with a WD-H58 0,7x wide angle lens. Default sharpening on D7000 is 3. I have set it to 6. After this test, I played around and set the saturation to -1. That seems to make the colors look good, but not too saturated. Comments on the video: 00:16 - There seems to be some moiré on the back of the sign at the left side on D7000. HF-S100 has no moiré there, but is also blurry. 00:30 - The details and colours on the left side looks superb on D7000 compared to the rather dark and blurry image from HF-S100. 00:54 - The colours on D7000 looks a bit too saturated. The details in the concrete in front of the car is again blurry on HF-S100. Notice the star shaped lens flare on HF-S100. This camera uses a 4-segment iris, which in my opinion makes an ugly flare. 01:06 - The HF-S100 is really struggling to get some colours. The IKEA sign in the back there should be yellow. I'm not sure if this is a result of using cine-mode. 02:04 - The flashing on D7000 might be a result of the camera adjusting ISO up and down as the car passes the light. It could also be reflections in the windshield. 02:30 - Again, superb sharpness and colours on the building to the right on D7000. 02:38 - The Parliament in Oslo looks so bad on HF-S100. The ...
Party hats. Shot with Canon 600D with 50mm F1.8 Lens. Shot at 720p 60fps but compressed for easier upload. No music was added because i wanted to test the microphone too, which is decent in picking up highs although it hardly picks up lows at all.So if you are going to use this camera for proper video taking then you will need an external mic. Shot in Auckland New Zealand on Guy Fawkes Day.
